Mojo and MAX are fully free for noncommercial use.
For commerical use, if you are self hosting MAX, you can use unlimited CPUs or Nvidia GPUs for free. For any non-CPU non-Nvidia thing, it’s free for up to 8 devices, meaning more or less a GPU server worth.
If you want the more enterprise stuff like Mammoth for Kubernetes, or a hosted API, you’ll need to speak to Modular directly.
The main conditions to be aware of is that you can’t offer AI infra or AI inference APIs using Mojo or MAX, which is mostly to prevent Modular from having to compete with their own tooling.
Right now, my reading of the community license is that it’s viral, so if you want to ship closed-source software you will probably need to have a discussion with Modular directly.
I’d direct further questions to Modular: Talk to an AI Expert, and I’d encourage you to talk to them anyway, since Modular can help make sure whatever you’re building with Mojo and/or MAX isn’t broken by community changes.
