How to post in the Modular forum

Welcome to the Modular forum! :partying_face:

Here are some tips to help you write effective posts and get meaningful answers.

  1. Tag your post as discussion or debugging.
    All posts should be tagged with either discussion or debugging. If your post is tagged with debugging, the community will assume you want help solving a specific technical issue. If your post is tagged with discussion, we’ll assume you’re looking to hear thoughts and opinions from other community members on the topic of your post.

  2. Include a minimal, reproducible code example in your debugging post.
    If you’ve created a debugging post, make sure you’ve also included a code snippet, and that it is minimal and reproducible. In other words, include just enough code to enable others to reproduce the problem. Check out StackOverflow’s guide to creating a minimal, complete, and verifiable example. Ensure that your example works by running it yourself before posting.

  • Here are some questions your debugging post should answer:
    • If you’re dealing with an error, what is the full error message?
    • What have you tried so far to solve the issue? Be specific in explaining how your past approaches have not worked.
    • What version of MAX, Mojo, and/or Python are you using?
    • What operating system are you using?

  1. Format your code.
    Please don’t post images or screenshots because we can’t copy the code and try it out. Select your code snippet and click the “<>” button in the toolbar, or add markdown code block syntax manually.

  2. Once you’ve posted, be ready to respond to follow-ups, engage in thoughtful dialogue, and be patient.
    If your post doesn’t receive any comments, please comment on that same post rather than creating a duplicate post.

  3. No need to tag or DM the Modular team or moderators.
    Modular staff checks this forum consistently Monday through Friday, most frequently during the hours of 6 AM to 4 PM PT. Answers may be slower on weekends.

  4. Don’t post AI-generated technical solutions without disclosing the source.
    If you feel that an AI-generated code snippet or technical solution would add value to a discussion, be sure to disclose that the content is AI-generated (e.g. “I asked ChatGPT this question, and this is what it said: …”).
    Otherwise, you’re welcome to use AI to edit or supplement your posts, but posts that are obviously AI-generated, don’t include a disclosure, and don’t add value to a discussion will be removed. Repeatedly violating this guidelines may result in removal of your account.
