I’m really interested in knowing this
I run windows but I’m finding mojo very interesting. I would switch to Linux but my dad uses windows so I can’t. I also don’t have access to wsl since I don’t have admin permissions so I can’t run mojo until mojo is available on windows.
Hi @usernotneeded,
Thanks for sharing this question! At this time, Windows support is unfortunately not on the roadmap.
Is there any news on when it will be available
Unfortunately, we don’t have a timeline for a Windows release. Right now the Mojo compiler team is focused on delivering the best experience to program GPUs for production enterprise environments, which are largely Linux (and other POSIX/UNIX based systems, which is why MacOS is easy to support). Windows is definitely something the team wants to support in the future, but it’s important to prioritize the most impactful work, which means focusing on Linux as a deployment platform.
We understand your frustration about the platform availability, but this is the best answer we can give you right now.
Alright thank you so much. Will news on this topic be on the website?
We don’t expect to have news on this topic in the near term. The Modular community meetings and livestreams are the best place to stay up to date on the roadmap – the recordings are posted to our YouTube channel.
Hi, another alternative (and better in many ways IMO) to WSL is to use VirtualBox. You probably need admin to install it, but your Dad may not have a problem with it since it shouldn’t affect his account. Once you have VirtualBox and its guest additions installed, you can easily create Linux VMs to your heart’s content.
I’m typing this from such a VM, and Magic/Mojo are working well so far.
Good luck!
