Hi everyone
We wanted to give you a heads up that we’ll soon be renaming our modular/max
repository to modular/modular
.
A few key points:
- The MAX framework itself is not being renamed.
- Going forward, we’ll refer to the Modular platform as the overarching suite of products we’re building, which includes MAX, Mojo, and more.
Why are we making this change?
- Clarity: We’ve heard feedback that the “max” repo name was confusing, especially for new users who weren’t sure what “max” referred to. The MAX framework and Mojo language are related but separable technologies, which the new approach makes more clear.
- Consistency: We’re Modular, and we want our repo names and organization to reflect that, making it easier to understand what’s part of our broader platform.
What you need to know:
- We’ll make this change later today (April 29th).
- GitHub automatically redirects repo links, so most workflows should continue to work normally, but you will still want to update your
git repo
endpoints to reflect the new host repository. - If you have any scripts, CI pipelines, or documentation that reference
modular/max
, you’ll want to update them to point tomodular/modular
after the rename.
Thanks again for all your feedback — it’s helping us make the Modular experience better for everyone.
As always, let us know if you have any questions!
— The Modular Team
