Introducing the Modular Community Grant Program

We’re thrilled to officially launch a grant program to financially support open source projects that contribute to the Modular ecosystem, community events, and Modular-focused conference talks.

Projects

Modular will fund community-built projects that extend the capabilities of MAX and Mojo. Grants run for six months, with funding distributed in three equal installments via GitHub Sponsors. Grant amounts start at $500 USD and scale with scope and relevance, shared amongst project owners. You may also be eligible for GitHub’s matching on the first $5k in sponsorships.

What kinds of projects are we looking for?
Our focus areas for this round of funding:

  • Kernel development: community-built kernels that extend MAX’s capabilities, improve performance, or fill gaps in hardware support
  • Model bringup: projects that bring new model architectures or families onto MAX
  • General ecosystem projects: projects that fill a real gap within the Mojo and MAX ecosystems

Please note that not every project idea will be funded. Even some amazing ideas may not be funded if they’re already being worked on internally, or due to capacity. We appreciate the community’s enthusiasm, submissions, and understanding.

Support and commitments
Grantees get a direct line to the Modular team through monthly check-ins and a shared Slack channel. We ask that grantees participate in a short video interview for our YouTube channel, co-author a blog post about their project, and present at a community meeting.

How do I apply?
Fill out the application here. We’ll review all submissions and reach out directly.

Community Events

We’re also sponsoring meetups and other events. If you’re interested in hosting something to grow the Modular community, please reach out via this form.

Speaking Opportunities

Presenting a MAX or Mojo-focused talk at a conference? We’d love to help cover your travel expenses.
