Is model building under the community license?

I am planning on building AI agents using a new framework written in Python and refined in Mojo. I’m not sure if I’ll make the framework itself public, but I’d like some agents to be freely available for self-hosting much like many LLMs today. As such, these agents can be deployed and offered as part of inference services by other companies.

How does the Modular team see this situation? Does this fall under the Community License? Are there details not mentioned in the context described above that would make it fit into the Max Enterprise model?

You’re totally fine to go and build within the Community License and release this. The license is incredibly liberal and you’re free to build and release this without concern.

I would encourage you to submit it so we can feature the framework on https://builds.modular.com (under MAX Builds) and you can learn how to do that via How to submit a package to MAX Builds
